U.S. President-elect Joe Biden, and his deputy, Kamala Harris, have been elected people of the year from Time magazine.
The Biden-Haris election represents something historical”, Time wrote on Twitter.
The democratic duo beat out three other finalists -- health care workers and physician Anthony Fauci, the race for racial justice movement and current US President Donald Trump, who lost the race against Biden.
Time has chosen the most influential person of the year since 1927.
“For the change of American history, the evidence of the force of sensitivity is greater than the fury of division, for sharing a vision of healing in a sad world, Joe Biden and Kamala Harris are people of 2020 of Time”, said its editor-in-chief, Edward Fesenthal.
In 2016, Trump, also elected president of that world, received the same recognition from the magazine.
Time picks a person, a group, an idea or an object every year that “for better or worse” has had the greatest impact on the events of those 12 months. / REL
