Despite the difficult epidemiological situation and the fight against Coronavirus, the number of newborn babies this year in Serb areas in Kosovo is higher than last year, and until now, a total of 919 babies were born in eastern hospitals in northern Mitrovica, Gracanica and Partesh.
The highest number of births this year was at the Health Centre in northern Mitrovica, where, according to the chief nurse of the Gynecology and obstetrics department, Olivera Elek, 5 more babies have been born so far than last year.
“520 babies have been born so far in North Mitrovica, which is 5 more than last year”, Elec told the Serbian portal in Kosovo, “Kosovo Online”.
The situation is similar at Gracanica's birth hospital, where 261 babies were born in 2020.
The number of babies born to date is 261, of which 125 boys and 136 girls, while last year, by December 31st, 254 babies have been born”, said the clinic's chief nurse, Marina Zivic.
Despite the coronary situation, this year 138 babies were born in the gynaecology and obstetrics clinic at the Paris Health Center, which is almost identical to a year ago.
