Attack on Germany: At least 4 deaths from the car that hit pedestrians, the baby cart in Trier

Witnesses say they saw family members and a baby carriage that “flew into the air” as a Range Rover car rushed into a pedestrian road in Trier.

Other victims were hit in front of the terrified children who had been shopping for Christmas with their parents.

Four people, including one child, were killed, local media said, as views from the site showed people trying to help injured people left on the ground by the shocks.

A driver went in hitting people with cars in town. Initially there were two dead, but some of the wounded have serious wounds,” Mayor Wolfram Leibe Leibe said amid tears at the press conference.

I walked into the center of town, it was horrible, a little girl was among the victims.

Leibe said the motive for the incident is not clear yet.

Wee Konz, the head of Trier's police said: “we can't say anything about context, we don't know if it's terror or anything else”.

Traditional Christmas markets have been closed in Germany by pandemic, but ordinary shops have been opened.

It's been four years now since the terrorist attack on a Christmas market in Berlin, where 12 people died and 56 were injured.

In the 2016 massacre, Anice Amri had shot the truck driver before taking him out to hit his victims at Christmastime.

Trier is 120 miles west of Frankfurt, near the Luxembourg border.
