“AZD1222 contains genetic material of epic protein and changes in the genetic code seen in this new viral group do not seem to change the structure of the protein mentioned above,” says the company.
The British drug manufacturer stresses that studies are still under way to fully investigate the impact of mutation.
Drug manufacturers are trying to test their shot-19 against Britain's fast - growing new version of the virus, the recent challenge in the dangerous race to contain pandemic.
“Amid vaculation with AZD1222, the body's immune system has been trained to recognize many different parts of the epic protein so that it can eliminate the virus if exposed later,” the representative of AstraZeneca added.
The mutation known as the B.1.1.7 line could be up to 70% more infectious and disturbing for children. This has caused chaos in Britain, prompting a wave of travel bans that are disrupting trade with Europe and threatening to further isolate the country.
AstraZeneca-Oxford vaccine is considered vital for lower income and hot climate countries, because it is cheaper, easier to transport and can be preserved for long periods in normal refrigerator temperatures.
