Today, there is the World AIDS Day, which is remembered every December 1st since 1988.
This day, as worldwide, is also marked in Kosovo, which during this day, personnel and health decision-makers. Community leaders, HIV programming managers and other partners are called on to support prevention and control measures with their contribution.
By the end of 2019, some 38 million people had HIV. During 2019, while 660,000 people have died with HIV because of the lack of HIV services, another 1.7 million have been infected.
And according to data from the Kosovo National Public Health Institute (IKSHPK) from 1986 to December 1, 2020, 132 HIV cases have been reported in Kosovo.
So far 51 have died as a result of AIDS.
This year, however, 2 cases of HIV infection were reported.

It is estimated that about 62% of new infections worldwide belong to groups aged 15 to 49 and special groups (narcomons, sex workers, transplantors, prisoners, men having male sex).

Day WORLD OF AIDS
On December 1st, the World AIDS Day is marked, which in many parts of the world goes by teaching and informing the population about this disease and continues to be an issue of global public health.
The reason for this day's marking in the whole world as well as in Kosovo is:
Calls for AXION for all health personnel and decision-makers, community leaders, HIV software managers and other partners to support HIV prevention and control measures with their contribution AIDS
Worldwide:
• By the end of 2019, about 38 million people had HIV.
• It is estimated that 1 out of 5 people living with HIV do not know they are infected.
• So far, 33 million people have passed away from HIV.
• During 2019, 660,000 people have died with HIV because of the lack of HIV services, while another 1.7 million have been infected.
• It is estimated that about 62% of new infections worldwide belong to groups aged 15 to 49 and special groupings (narcomons, sex workers, transformers, prisoners, men having male sex).
• HIV infection is impossible. However, effective ARV therapy can control the virus and help prevent the carrying of infection to other humans.
The impact of COVID-19 infection on HIV persons is still being investigated. HIV sufferers are endangered by serious diseases if they have low values of CD4 immune cells and if they do not receive effective ARV therapy.
Kosovo is classified as a low-scale epidemic country with potential growth, especially among the MSM population.
Existing data proves that we don't have a generalised or concentrated HIV infection epidemic.

“End the HIV/ AIDS: Endurance and Effect”
Key messages and calls for action:
• The Restore of the Fight to End AIDS; it's time to invest, upgrade and integrate HIV services with extensive health care.
• Use of HIV innovation services to provide constant care for HIV persons during pandemic, for example. The description of therapy for several months.
• The engagement, support and protection of health workers and those in the community when offering HIV and COVIDD-19 services.
• Giving priority to vulnerable groups. Continued treatment of HIV services during COVID-19 for children, teenagers and individual groups.
COVID-19 and HIV
HIV people should be very careful in respecting general measures to avoid COVIDD-19 infection:
• The mask kiss,
• Maintaining physical distance,
• Maintaining personal hygiene and environment,
• Escape unnecessary trips and gatherings.
In particular, it must be prepped for possible infections, including:
• Ensure enough food (30-90 days) with HIV medicines.
• Continue to take HIV drugs, which help to preserve your immune system.
• Maintaining the healthy life - style (healthful nutrition, adequate sleep for at least 8 hours a day, and stress removal).
Solidarity and sharing of responsibility help fight the coronavirus, end the AIDS epidemic and guarantee the right to health for all.
