Afghan journalist killed, someone was ambushed

A journalist was shot dead by weapons east of Afghanistan, in a series of killings that have swept the country in recent times.

Malala Maiwand was traveling to work in the town of Jalalabad, when armed men who had been ambushed shot at the car where he traveled, leaving him and the driver killed.

Until now, none of the militant groups operating in the country has claimed responsibility for the attack.

NATO and EU missions in Afghanistan, which condemned the murder of journalist and authors to be held accountable, reacted to this event.
