AAK: We have red lines for no party

The Alliance for the Future of Kosovo in early elections expected to be held this year will compete alone. Selim Selimi of this party says coalitions will only think after the elections, until it has expressed confidence that the AAK will win the elections. Having taken [...]

Having made the decision to compete alone in elections, AAK's Selimi says they have no red lines for any of the post-election political parties.

For pre-election, we're going to race alone, after election we think there's no red line, there's no red lines, not like submission, but there's no red lines because we think that each party as set up by the sovereign vote has room for us to co-operate. The alliance has also co-operated in opposition with political parties and in position with different political parties, so we have seen that our centre-right vision can be in a possible coalition which we hope to win elections with one of the parties to find a harmony of joint governance. It means, we have experience of governance with parties, and we have experience of opposition with other parties, so we know those priorities and shortcomings of possible coalitions after election”, he says.

Selimi has voiced confidence that the party in which he is part will be victorious in this early elections because, he says, the jobs they have done.

We have expectations to win elections, that we are entering to win elections. I know it may sometimes sound like any party that says non-real because without holding elections they don't know who wins, but we're entering with the will to win the elections. We have the traditional percentage that the Alliance takes to the elections, but this time we think we have extremely good chances of positioning ourselves much better in these elections, because we have done jobs even during the work of Prime Minister Haradinaj, but also in this government”, Selimi says.

Until the full publication of the Constitutional Court's conviction to announce early elections is expected, Selimi says that the mobilisation of branches and sub-seas throughout Kosovo has already begun.

“Every political party knows elections are inevitable, every political party knows elections can happen even prematurely. The AAK is ready, it was ready, we after the October elections were in the opposition, so we were ready to go to the elections immediately because we disagreed with the former powers. We are ready and have a mobilization at the level of Kosovo, in municipalities, in branches and underseas. We've already started regular communication with the branch heads, the heads of the submarines, the mayors of the municipalities where we rule, and the central level. We're willing and we have a will that these elections will do very well, because we have what we present, it means we have jobs that we're going to try to convince voters that because of their vote we've been given the opportunity to improve the Rhex/CHygg in the Republic of Kosovo. We stay well as it looks on the ground”, he says.

The Constitutional Court on 21 December ruled that the Avdullah Hoti government has been elected unconstitutionally and demanded that the country go to early elections.
