A 10-point indictment burdens the former KLA leaders.
Hashim Thaci, Rexhep Selimi, Kadri Veselin and Jakup Krasniqi, already have confirmed an accusatory act, which included them in “war crimes” and “crimes against humanity”.
Exactly the four former UCK leaders are charged with persecution, imprisonment, arrest and arbitrary ban, cruel treatment, torture, murder and other inhumane acts.
US-led prosecutors Jack Smith support their indictment in 1760 documents.
This great volume of documents has already been revealed to defense attorneys.
Along with the evidence under which the indictment is based, prosecutors have submitted another 1309 documents, which could potentially be a justification for the accused.
All these documents have already been taken by defense lawyers.
But, they do not seem to have enough time for the previous 30 days in the procedure and testing regulations to present their objections.
Therefore, all four lawyers David Hooper, Ben Emerson, David Young and Venkatsari Alagedra have submitted a common requirement for extending their motions.
Lawyers have complained they are having a hard time consulting their clients.
However, according to defense attorneys, there is something even more important that justifys extending the deadline to file motions.
The four international lawyers have demanded deadlines until February 10th to submit any motion, either for contesting the jurisdiction of the court or for shortcomings in the indictment.
To decide according to this request for protection, the judge of the preliminary procedure has 21 days.
