About 40 thousand citizens are expected to receive 900 euros that lost their jobs during the pandemic

There are about 100,000 private sector workers who lost their jobs during this year's February-December period. For them in the Law on Economic Regeneration has been defined as sharing 300 euros for 3 months. But even though this Law went into effect two days ago, citizens still have no information on how to apply for the benefit of these tools.

From the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK), which was the initiative of this amendment, it is important that this issue is determined even though its implementation is in the power of the Government, part of which the PDK is not.

The question of implementation and setting criteria is under government competencies, respectively. The important thing is that the amendment envisions payments for all those who have lost jobs during pandemic”, the deputy minister said. PDK, Cameron Gashi for Express.

Even though this Law is already in force, the Private Sector Union is expressing itself dissatisfied with it.

The chairman of this union, Yusuf Azemi, has told Express that they have been waiting for more from this Paco.

We've been waiting a lot longer. We've expected private sector employees to be directly stimulated. Besides Trust for them there's no other incentive. Our desire for the division of 300 euros would have been to include all employees in a form that has departed or those who have not worked at all”, he said.

Azem has expressed concern that a large number of workers who have been laid off will not be able to take advantage of the measure because the same have been without labour contracts and without regular payment of financial obligations.

At the meeting with the prime minister, we have shown our reasons, our concerns, and we think that the number of workers paid by the Government of Kosovo by 300 euros will be about 30-40 thousand workers, while if they get the total number of workers who left their jobs in the period of March-30 hours will probably exceed 100 thousand workers, but that's because these 30-40 thousand workers have also had employment contracts and labour companies have paid their pension obligations, while the rest of them have had no contract to pay the Trust. The move will start implementing as of January and I think it will end somewhere in March”, he said.

In the meantime, citizens who have been unemployed and who, according to the Private Sector Workers Union, are awaiting publication of details to apply for that measure.

The Economic Recovery Law was voted on December 4th of this year and went into effect three days later - December 7th.
