Lulzim Imer, from the village of Lakeville, had served at 142 Brigade in the Shala Operative Zone.
He relates the difficult times when he lost some of his fellow warriors while he was severely wounded.
I've been wounded coming from Albania. I have fallen prey in the village of Napteruze (Suhareka). Five of my friends were killed there. .... I saved the second one myself. When I fell prey, I was seriously injured, I lost consciousness. I didn't know 24 hours where I was. I was unconscious. Where I was wounded, I stayed a month. From there, I've come to my village, Lakeji”, he relates.
We're facing a car. We've got him. Gulinov fell here. And automation here”, Lulzim said.
At that time, however, Lulzim never thought that 20 years after the end of the war, he would face the harsh economic conditions in which his family is living today.
The 320-euro disability pension, Lulzim, is not enough to fulfill all obligations for his sixth family.
I have this house. I got into war. I get a 320-euro pension. They're not working. I have four kids at school. Yeah, it'll take a little bit longer than we do. I've been here for 20 years. With that help I live. We're trying to leave something wrong. But you have to pay me the nation. Three kids go to town at school. Yeah, I should take the car to the neighbors and take the little boy to school because he's afraid to go alone. That money I try to save, buy me food for my family. Only the Invalid Association has helped us”, Lulzim said further.
He says that because of the consequences of the war, he is unable to work.
I can't move. 5 kilos I can't take too much. It's too heavy and I can't. When you're getting cold, it's too dangerous for me. I have so much pain, I can't even sleep. I get therapy from doctors in Vushtrri. When I'm talking about wartime, I'm being seen all night. I'm having problems. I can't sleep. I remember the company of war, the son of Uncle. These were with me along with”, the former soldier said.
The 43-year-old flower shows that from the end of the war until now, no one has opened the door to him to care for his hard life.
I need my house repaired. The first floor of the house is a little better. The second floor is very bad. Who could have repaired my house. It's been 20 years and nobody's come to ask me if I have to help me out. I can't make a house with 320 euros. The oldest child is 17 years old. The kids have demands, I can't fill them out. Someone at school takes 50 cents and my kids don't. I'm gonna have to put my head down. I'm bored! When there's no man, what do I do?”, it shows the flower.
And unlike other children, the Lulzims have no access to technological devices. Not now in pandemic time, when students are being forced into online school.
The kids keep looking, they don't know. They want to lead a better life. Kids don't have access to technology. Children don't even have a chance to follow lessons online. We don't even have a computer. No relationship for children. I'm just looking at”, Lulzim said.
But despite his hard life, he never regretted the decision he made to join the KLA war.
“We have fought to get Serbia out of Kosovo. We fought to free our country. First the family, with the protection of the” family, Lulzim said finally.
