Public Letter to Squirrel: Zero tolerance for degrading language to women
November 19, 2020
Your Honor, the Speaker of the Scytheright Community, Mr. Bekim Jashar,
During yesterday, media have reported on the insulting and degrading language that Director for Geodosy, Cadastre and Property in the Skyright municipality Ramiz Shala has publicly used to assist an assemblyist Vjollca Ramadani.
“Sorrre” of “zagarice” are just some of the offensive terms Shala mentioned when addressing Ramadan through a publication on the social Facebook network. Such language is a symptom of a mind which is and should be unacceptable to the representatives of our institutions.
Trusting that such language should never have place in public institutions, and that when we face it we must condemn it without compromise, through this letter we urge you to distance yourself from Mr. Shala and download it.
We remind you that our commitment to empowering women's participation in politics, whether locally or nationally, is closely linked to the daily effort to build a society where women and girls are not discriminated against and enjoy equal treatment by society and institutions. So we ask you not to tolerate such approaches, which is denigrate to women and their position in society.
