Thaci's request as president for condemning Serbian crimes, prosecution at The Hague interprets it as interference in its work

The president of Kosovo, in his letter to the U.S. Secretary of StateHe wrote that there has been little progress in implementing the previous mandate of the Specialised Chambers.
Thaci had added that the Specialised Chambers have not produced results, as is seen with the mandate set out in EU letters and in agreement with the state of Holland.
Kosovo's Special Chambers and the Special Prosecutor's Office of Kosovo are internal institutions operating within the constitutional and legal hierarchy of the Republic of Kosovo. It is important to make it evident that these institutions also function as such and contribute to the overall objectives of Kosovo institutions and the international community”.
The country's first one had said that the ways institutions are operating are in direct conflict with what was previously seen, saying this is a serious concern for which it is obliged to react as president of the state.
The aim of establishing Kosovo Specialised Chambers and the Special Prosecutor's Office of Kosovo has been to build a local legal and institutional credit framework for investigating and prosecuting crimes allegedly committed during 1998-2000 in Kosovo. In this context it has been seen that crimes allegedly committed on both sides of the conflict would be fully investigated and properly”.
He had said it is disappointing that the special prosecutor's office has dedicated its resources to investigate only one ethnic group -- that is, only Kosovo Albanians -- saying it undermines the credibility of the process.
It is unacceptable that people whose names are mentioned in public reports, such as that of Swiss Senator Dick Marty, published in 2010, have been subjected to almost 10 years of threats that they will be investigated and potentially tried. ”
He had criticised, saying there are reliable reports claiming that the statuteic and procedural frameworks of Kosovo's Specialised Chambers are not in line with internationally recognised standards for fair judgment and treatment.
