Telekom worker ultimatum government: You have 72 hours to settle the account case

Telekom workers have warned protests and strikes if the Government of Kosovo does not take any steps to unlock accounts and return the means to the Telekom account, which have been blocked and withdrawn by the company “Dardaphone”, Z-Mobile's mother company, as a result of its debt. Telekom Workers' Union Chairman Lamih Balaj has called on the Kosovo government to commit to unlocking accounts and turning the means into the Telekom account, as he says Telekom's operation and the well-being of the employees of the company are under threat.

Through a media conference, he has given the Government of Kosovo 72 hours to make solutions, and he said it is a super threat from Telekom workers.

“If they don't solve the Telekom issue within 72 hours, return of accounts and tools to account. I don't care about either me or the workers, or the leadership and the Assembly that the Government is going to account for, or they're going to come back from oligarch Devolli, because I believe they had to come back because those tools are illegal, then our steps are inevitable. 72 hours now you have us sitting down and negotiating to make all the choices. They may say they're taking the threat, but honestly not that it's a threat, but it's a super threat, it's going to happen that they've never seen, because apparently they're used to the Parliament as well in the government, and in the government's postponement, but it's over, we can't tolerate with the state's pranks that we're going to make solutions by appointing boards that within a month will make a solution, but with me today, there are all the engineers who are holding the hard network of the Kosovo Telekom1x>, he said.

He has indicated steps he will take if there is no solution to the situation in Kosovo Telekom. For these steps he said Prime Minister Avdullah Hoti and Economy and Environment Minister Blerim Kuci have also announced.

The first “step will be strikes and protests at Kosovo Telekom objects in all cities, meaning that in all Kosovo cities we will have a warning protest and that protest will be attached except to workers, that you will not close the points to be certain, that the customers will be safe and the services will be carried out, we have asked that the entire association and Kosovo Telecom management. The second step will be strikes within Kosovo Telecom facilities through all Kosovo city objects until the problem is resolved. The third and final step as union in the event that we see the Government of the Republic of Kosovo, the Kosovo Parliament will not take action towards this then the strikes before the Government of Kosovo will be carried, but today it will not make public some steps that will be radical that will take place within and outside of the facilities of Telekom, where neither the Government of the Republic of Kosovo will fall well, but these will be public in case there is no solution for Kosovo Telekom”, he said.

The chairman of the Telekom Workers Union said they are in front of the collapse and prior to the collapse of services, and according to him, this is being done for the sole purpose of devolles taking advantage of Telekom's bankruptcy.

He has also called on the Parliament's deputies to take an interest in the situation in Kosovo Telecom.

We're in front of the collapse and before the collapse of services, one of you might even say why before the service collapse. Now we have all the contracts for the antenna, that means all the private operators, the people we have the antennas set up with is the 5th and by Friday we've constantly got the contacts today informed by management and finance officials that if they don't pay us time to rent their antennas, then their network will shut down, and as soon as the current shut down, you'll have the following system. I had no intention of bringing us to this very situation the Government of the Republic of Kosovo, with intent or without intent, owns Kosovo Telecom. Whether or not they knew it was the second time that Telekom vehicles were blocked and those tools were taken and if the Government allows that an oligarch, a businessman who has benefited on the corruptness of Telekom, that's what happens then I strongly believe, even people within the Parliament, even people within the Government, even people in the institutions of justice are related to organised crime”, Balaj said.

Balaj has also asked the State Prosecutor to show himself in terms of the situation in Kosovo Telecom.
