According to this survey, the democratic candidate secured 77 per cent of the Hebrew vote compared to 21 per cent of Donald Trump, which represents the worst performance of Republicans in this community since 2008.
American Jews have traditionally voted Democrats at very high levels amounting to 70%. For this time it was thought that there would be a historic overthrow of their attitude. In 2017, Trump decided to move the American Embassy to Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, practically recognising the latter as the capital of the Jewish state, a movement that brought down decades of US foreign policy, angered Palestinians, sparked international indignation, but delighted the Israelis, wrote top Channel.
The American president also cut the funds to Palestinians, recognised Israel's claims on the Golan Heights, made efforts to advance a peace formula that would allow Israel to hold whole parts of the West Coast and finally brokered a normalisation agreement between the Jewish state and the two Arab Gulf states. But he did not gain more support among the Hebrew community, and he has clearly expressed his disappointment.
