With senior Iranian officials blaming Israel, Supreme Leader Ayatolah Seyed Ali Khamenei and others have pledged revenge for the murder of Moshen Fahrizadeh, who was the country's leading nuclear scientist.
And in the meantime, there were conflicting data from Iranian news agencies about how the attack was carried out, writes CNN, follows thegraphy.
A report published Sunday by Fars News said that Fahrizadeh was traveling with his wife on Friday to a “non-disabled car” from bullets, along with three security personnel vehicles, when he heard that something sounds like bullets were hitting a vehicle and he came out of the car to determine what had happened.
When he stepped out of the vehicle, a remote control machine opened fire from a Nissan that was banned about 150m from Fahrizadeh's car, Fars News said.
Fahrizadeh was shot at least three times, according to Fars News. His bodyguard was also shot. After the gun shooting, Nissan exploded, Fars News reported, adding that the attack lasted three minutes.
In this direction CNN writes he cannot independently confirm the news agency's version of events.
But according to CNN, Television records, the semi-official Iranian Student News Agency (ISNA) also reported that Fahrizadeh's car was hit by gun shooting, followed by an explosion and more fire, citing Iranian Defence Minister Brig. General Amir Hatam.
“Based on reports received by its security members, Mr. Fahrizadeh was initially targeted by gun shooting, after which a Nissan vehicle loaded with explosives left near them after gun shooting, targeting their vehicle, said Hatami, according to I SNA.
Meanwhile, IRIB, Iranian state television, said the blast occurred first, followed by gun shooting by attackers.
Seyed Kamal Kharrazi, head of Iran's Strategic Council for Foreign Relations, compared the murder to the murder of Qasem Solejmani, the state news agency of the Islamic Republic reported on Sunday.
Solejmani, leader of the Islamic Revolutionary Revolutionary Guard Corps, was killed in an attack with American fears earlier this year in Iraq.
Fahrizadeh was head of the research centre of new technology at the elite of Revolutionary Guard and was a key figure in Iran's nuclear programme.
And for this murder, Iranian leaders blame Israel.
