According to the institution of History, the liberation war in Kosovo was imposed, necessary and fair, as it was directed against an conqueror, who tried fervently and iron to carry out Kosovo's bloody ethnic cleansing.
This is the full response of the Institute of History “Ali Hadri”, in Pristina:
Kosovo Liberation Army war was necessary and fair
With confirmation of the charges by The Hague-based Special Court against several former Kosovo Liberation Army leaders: Mr. Hashim Thaci, Kadri Veselini, Jakup Krasniqi, Rexhep Selimi and others are taking place the unjust treatment of the exclusive war against the most successful military organisation of the XX century, which fought for the freedom of a oppressed and captive European people.
While, on the other hand, in parallel with this is taking place Serbia's preferential treatment, which has been aggressive and has applied to its own strength, the ideal-teric and practical genocide of the Albanian people. Of the military forces' operations, Serbian police, in 1998/1999 were burned down, destroyed to the ground over 50% of homes for housing and more than twice were damaged, leaving them homeless than half a million people. Furthermore, Serbian forces burned cultural heritage, robbed valuable items, important economic companies, and so on. All of this has its own cost, for no moment has forgotten the deaths of thousands of defenseless citizens whose lives are not compensated for anything.
Today, it is a situation where the aggressor and the victim are unjustly placed in equal positions. Organised genocids are passed quietly as those who were forced to organise collective self - defense of their people in a subliance effort for freedom are tried.
The liberation war in Kosovo was imposed, necessary and just, because it was directed against an conqueror who tried fervently and iron to carry out Kosovo's bloody ethnic cleansing. The KLA war took place in line with the fundamental values of the freedom of the Albanian people and with all the fundamental principles of freedom and human existence of each people. The Kosovo Liberation Army, as a military and political factor, has built its history despite the purity and military organisation of the battles and confrontations it developed.
KLA personalities that today sit at the dock: Mr. Hashim Thaci, Kadri Veselini, Jakup Krasniqi, Rexhep Selimi, etc., and their fellow fighters placed their lives in the service of the protection of national identity and pride, which with their courage and vision became leaders of ideas and actions for the establishment and extent of the liberation war. The Albanian people's struggle under their leadership is a century-old crown of efforts by the people of Kosovo for freedom on their own lands, ending torture, rape, imprisonment, murder and genocide of the invading Serb forces on the Albanian people in Kosovo.
Similarly, the Kosovo Liberation Army war eventually opened the possibility of resolving Kosovo's political and judicial status. In this direction, the deliverers who are currently being tried at The Hague contributed beyond any expectations under the most difficult circumstances of the time, strengthened faith and unity, energizing and increasing the Kosovo Liberation Army, set up an army of rescuers, thus being for us, the sacred sign of our historical memory. They gave the Albanian people the belief that it can be a liberation war when you have heart, when you're right, when you're willing to sacrifice, when you're able to prove your right and throw out the foreign conqueror without a mask, while the world gave the message that Albanians couldn't stay further oppressed and tortured, at the end of the 20th century.
They obey the world for their own justice and awareness of the international military factor to support this right until the country's release. The saying of the great German philosopher Hegel, that: “The license of a people takes on the real meaning, only when man shows that he is willing to die for him”, the truthfulness of this prophetic statement has been sealed in the case of the war of these Saviors who today are being falsely accused by The Hague Tribunal.
The Kosovo Liberation Army war was based on the major ideas of the time.
The statement: the great “thoughts discuss ideas, average minds discuss events, small minds discuss people”, which is a saying that is usually attributed to Ellen Roosevelt (President Franklin D. Rousvelt, however, today's historic manifesto is of great importance and currentity and can be said to constitute the main political discour and decisionmaker of those yesterday's fighters and present - day indictees, who, in addition to the war, recognized the history of the political philosophy of international diplomacy by passing the right national line.
As such, the Kosovo Liberation Army war is an important historical event, not only for the Albanian people, but with weight and influence in Balkan, European and global relations.
It had national liberation as a reference point, became a generator of such problems that deeply affected US preventative diplomacy and European powers.
The KLA and its war were treated positively in the diplomatic Chancellors of Western Europe and the US, its efforts, role and force were praised in the field, while its fair fight and the Serbian military genocide committed against the Albanian people also listed NATO's largest military alliance, along with international public opinion.
In this context, Albanian freedom efforts found understanding and political and military support of international opinion, in particular of the Euro-Atlantic one.
By defending the past, always based on the truth of historical and legal arguments, we protect today and the future of our people. The right of the Kosovo Liberation Army's war also implies the protection of the legitimacy of NATO's military intervention in Kosovo, the protection of the legitimacy of Kosovo's declaration of independence, processes that were characterized by an intimate investment of the West in Kosovo in an economic, financial, social and moral sense towards the construction of a state and a democratic society in the Balkans, but also physical, spiritual and multi-generational sacrifice in Kosovo.
Any attempt to misuse the unjust liberation war could revive the intentions of certain anti-Albanian circles for destabilising Kosovo and the region in general. Attack and denial of the past is a damage to today's but also to the future of a people or a society.
