Recent developments over the Special Court's charges against the heads of state have caused tensions to drop within the ruling coalition.
Although the post of president is being sought earnestly by the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo, its deputy, Paul Lekaj, says there will be no conditions on their part. Meanwhile, he admits that there are sometimes differences with the LDK.
I think the operating flows are going according to predictions. It's true that sometimes we have differences on various projects, which is a charm of democracy and I think that this is pushing things a lot faster, I think the government is stable, working on the budget bill, and reading the Second Bill on Economic Recovery, and we as MPs have to do our job and support the government, but also be critical when there's some deviation from what we say in the good of the citizens<x1.
For the construction of the Dukagjini Highway, expected to be built next year, Lekaj says a civic duty has been carried out by this.
“Po as far as the Dukagjini Highway is concerned, I think that we have carried out the duty to the citizens of Kosovo, because Dukajni is also part of Kosovo and this highway is necessary for economics and free movement, where, according to the feasibility that was carried out in my mandate, and we have been given counsel with the heads of citizens on that side, I think they have told him the construction of that highway. We have had a political agreement to enter the Dukagjin highway budget in 2021”, Lekaj said.
Even our promise during the electoral campaign that this highway should be completed, even though we have special attention to the situation in which Kosovo is in its budget at this time of pandemic, but the highway can be built and supported by international budget organisations, and for that it is a committed act and must be functional and should be enabled exactly”, Lekaj said.
While connoisseur of political developments in the country, Faton Abdullahu sees this coalition as unstable.
He for Online Economy says that this coalition, if unique in Washington, would benefit more from that agreement.
The current governing coalition is not sustainable for many reasons, one of which is that it is not unique enough to be efficient enough in many spheres, and they retaliate in management of pandemics. The AAK's proposal for a president from their ranks, this case for Ramush Haradinaj, is the legitimate proposal, but this has created divisions that are continuing, where these were even earlier without this AAK proposal, when even in Washington they were not unique. I consider that if they were unique, they would be effective, from that agreement, they would derive greater benefits than we came up with, and that wasn't because of this split”.
Speaking of the coalition's functioning, Abdullahu thinks that with the president's solution to the US, there could potentially be government reshaping.
“As far as the agreement is concerned, I think all of our political forces, including those in Government, are in some kind of expectation and waiting for things to be complicated because they're looking forward to having it clear who will win in Washington, and then they'll have the opportunity to coordinate with Washington what to do, go to elections or do Government reshapement. So when our political class understands who will be the head of the United States, it will take concrete steps in this direction”.
