Snowden has been living in Russia since 2013, when he has even discovered details about the U.S.'s secret program for electronic surveillance.
In October, he was given permanent permission to stay by the Russian government.
After a few years of separation from our parents, my wife and I don't want to be separated from our son”, Snowden wrote on Twitter.
Days ago, he announced that he expects children with his wife, Lindsay Mills.
“Lindsey and I will remain American and we will raise our son with all the values of America that we love including freedom to speak”, Snowden said.
Russia, late on, has eased citizenship laws, enabling an individual to gain Russian citizenship without asking him to give up his original citizenship.
Snowden has been charged in the United States with discovering about 1.5 million classified documents from the National Security Agency.
If convicted in the US, he faces 30 years in prison.
