Next week, excavations will begin for the extraction of mortore remains that were found in the mass cemetery in Kizevac, Serbia, which are suspected of being killed by Albanian civilians killed in Kosovo in 1999. The Supreme Court in Belgrade has granted permission for excavations. This has been confirmed to Radio Kosovo by the co-ordinator of the Government Commission for Missing Persons, Concert Gara.

In December, the process of exhumation in Kizevac in Serbia will begin, where bone remains of Albanians killed during 1999. Meanwhile, the discovery of the location was done with the help of satellite images.

The Gara Cona, co-ordinator of the Government Commission for Missing Persons for Radio Kosovo, says that at Kizevac, logistical preparations are being made for starting digging and exhumation work.

We expect that soon we will have the starting date of excavations, potentially next week”, he said.

The race explained that the Kosovo side has already sent the names of the team that will participate in the excavations and will be present at all phases of the exhumation process. The race said that the entire digging process will also be based on recommendations by the Kosovo Medical Experts' delegation.

Even weather conditions according to the Gara Framework can be a barrier to the extraction of mortor remains from this massive cemetery.

Our requests will also be based on the recommendations of our forensic experts, which will be part of this process. Of course, Kosovo's delegation under the working group will insist that the excavations continue anyway, and as soon as the epilogu or case is known and the mortore remains are returned to families,”, he said.

Since 2001 until now, on Serbia's territory at 4 locations, mass cemeterys have been found with 941 troops of Albanians killed in Kosovo. For the last time, the mass cemetery was discovered in 2013 in Rudnica, southwest Serbia, near the border crossing between Kosovo and Serbia, in Jarinje. A total of 52 people have been found there.
