Viewing American electoral law as archaic, foreign ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova says the Kremlin will co-operate with anyone who will run the White House.

Maria Zakharova, a spokesperson for the Russian Foreign Ministry, said that the estimated “Barazia among candidates for president has highlighted the apparent weaknesses of the American election system the weak sides that have been highlighted many times by observers and international experts. In part, it can be explained by the archaic nature of American election law and the uncertainty of some key moments in it, as we have already said many times. We hope that US legal ways will allow the identification of the future head of state in line with the American Constitution and, most importantly, to avoid mass unrest in the country”.

As for the Russian-American respect relations in the post-election context, according to Zakharova, “as our country's leadership has said many times, is ready for meaningful co-operation with the president of the United States, regardless of what the outcome of the” elections is.
