Elyas Dayee, a Radio Free Europe journalist, has been killed Thursday in the Afghan province of Helmad as a result of a bomb attached to his car.
Omer Zwak, spokesman for the province's governor, has told the REL that the bomb attached to Dayee's car has killed the journalist and injured three others, including his brother.
Still no one has claimed responsibility for the attack.
Dayie worked for the Afghanistan Service on Radio Free Europe.
My dear friend, Elyas Dayee, has lost his life in a terrorist attack this morning”, Sami Mahdi, chief of bureau in Afghanistan, said. He always had a smile on his face. This is terrible news”.
Afghan presidency spokesman Siddiq Siddiqui has condemned the Dayee murder, saying that <x0backs behind the attack remain enemies of freedom of expression and media in Afghanistan”.
Violence has increased throughout Afghanistan, as government negotiators and Taliban are holding meetings in Qatar to find solutions for the war in Afghanistan.
No turning point has yet been made since talks started in September. /rel
