“EU and member states Mission leaders take into account Kosovo President Hashim Thaci's resignation. We appreciate co-operation shown in recent days by President Hashim Thaci, former leader Kadri Wessel's PDK, as well as Mr. Rexhep Selimi and former Parliament Speaker Jakup Krasniqi, with Specialised Chambers. Moreover, we appreciate the talks to the public delivered yesterday by Mr. Thaci and Mr. Wessel, who called for respecting the” judicial process, is said in the communique.
In addition, diplomatic missions have declared that their co-operation with justice shows Kosovo's responsibility for rule of law.
This reflects Kosovo's responsibility and determination to respect rule of law and to seek accounts from individuals who may have committed illegal acts. It should not be forgotten that by law, individuals under indictment are innocent until their guilt is confirmed and their legal rights must be respected. Kosovo must remain committed to this process. The most crucial priority for the EU and its Member States is to respect rule of law, democracy and human rights. For this reason, we have strongly supported the creation of specialised rooms, as an integral part of Kosovo's system of rule of law, and we will continue to do so until the Chambers mission is completed, which Kosovo is dedicated to. This is essential for the consolidation of Kosovo's European perspective”, it says further.
