Poverty outreach Part of Development Strategy

China had pledged to eliminate absolute poverty by 2020, a key task in its efforts to build a relatively prosperous society in all respects.
At the end of 2019, 52 villages in northwest, south of China were still on the list of poverty: 9 in Yunnan province, 10 in the Autonomous region of Xinjiang-Wyguri, 1 in Autonom Ningxia-Hui region, 7 in Sichuan province, 8 in Autonom Guangxi-Juang region, 8 in Gansu province and 9 in Guizou province.
Thanks to adequate measures to alleviate poverty, China has lifted over 10 million people from poverty each year since 2013. Over the last five years throughout China, over 55 million people have been out of poverty.
In the next five years, China will step up efforts for greater performance in eliminating poverty and fully promoting the village development strategy.
