Pope Franzescu congratulates Joe Biden for victory

Pope Francis spoke on the phone with Joe Biden to congratulate him for victory in the US elections.

He thanked the democratic candidate for his praise of the Pope's leading role in promoting peace, reconciliation, and the bonds that unite mankind worldwide.

“Joe Biden will be the second Catholic president in the history of the United States. The first was John F Kennedy”, the Pope said.

For his part, Beden expressed the desire to co-operate on the basis of common trust in dignity and equality for all people on issues such as caring for the abandoned poor, for the climate change crisis, and to welcome and integrate migrants and refugees into communities.
