US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has congratulated Albania on the 108th anniversary of independence.
In his message, Pompeo says this year, the EU's decision to open negotiations with Albania is celebrated, while stressing that the US remains the country's staunch ally.
While Albania celebrates its Independence Day, I send congratulations on behalf of the United States government and the American people. This year, we also celebrate the European Union's decision to open membership negotiations for Albania, a sign of the significant progress Albania has made in implementing reforms needed for EU membership.
We congratulate Albania on its leadership as O leadership The SEU for 2020 and we appreciate everything it has done to demonstrate its commitment to the Transatlantic Community. Albania plays a central role in helping ensure peace and stability as part of the NATO Alliance, and the United States stays close to Albania as a steadfast ally. I hope prosperity and health for the Albanian people as we work together to overcome the challenges faced by the pandemic COVID-19”, Pompeo says.
