The Democratic Party in Pristina has held a media conference, where it has proposed allowing free public transportation from November to March.
That's because of the high level of air pollution in the capital and the spread of the Individual virus 19.
PDK Ambassador Suzana Vuciterna Kika added that for years Pristina has been ranked the world's first city with the largest air pollution.
It's been a week since the air meter value set in the city shows it's unhealthy. I remind you that wearing masks for Pristina citizens has been a regular ritual every time temperatures have dropped even before the spread of the Covid 19 pandemic due to air pollution. And this year the situation seems to be even heavier. A growing number of people exposed to severe air pollution suffer from diseases identified as diseases that increase sensitivity to COVIDD-19. People with chronic lung and heart problems caused or exacerbated by long - term exposure to air pollution are generally more vulnerable to secondary diseases, such as flu or infections. The two main factors related to COVID-19 are the risk of contracting disease faster than healthy individuals, and the risk of showing a more serious reaction when the disease is taken. Thus, lowering air pollution can help reduce the severity of the virus. ”
Subheader PDK in Pristina, Ilirik Musliu said that the PDK in Pristina is facing another health risk -- that of spreading respiratory diseases -- has thought a solution with immediate but lasting effect -- offering public transportation services free from November to March for all citizens of Pristina.
The “from the analysis we've done this would be the most efficient solution. Recent studies during one day at 10: 00 a.m., with satellite recording, have been found that there were 120,000 cars in the city of Pristina present in traffic without counting those that were parked inside the garage. So within the day in Pristina, there are about 70,000,000 cars, which emit polluting gases in the environment. If each one spends just two liters of derivatives inside the city, imagine how many quarts of derivatives spent within the city in just one day. Apart from emissions of polluting gases, imagine the amount of money spent on derivatives. Since the bus ticket currently costs 40 cents per direction, so 80 cents per round and round, and our families have an average of 4 members then it would cost a family 3 euros and 20 cents within a day for public transportation or 96 euros within a month or 384 euros for 4 months”, Musliu said.
PDK in Pristina considers implementing this project downloads capital traffic, protects the environment, saves time and pocket of citizens.
