Saturday and Sunday the 15th G20 summit was held. The theme of this meeting was the common commitment of all states to lower the severe effects of the pandemic in the first place on people's health as well as on the economy. China's head of state Xi Jinping presented China's proposals for the role of G20 in global governance after the outbreak.
Along with the work on preventing and controlling the epidemic, efforts must be made to stabilise and restore the economy. This is an urgent task. In his speech, Xi proposed that G20 should make more effort in four ways.
He called for the formation of an anti-religious shield wall. “We will keep our promise, provide assistance and support to other developing countries and try to make the vaccine a public product that people of the world can take and use,” said Xi.
The president of China said the following should be restored to regular functioning of the world economy. Xi stressed that, with the precondition for prevention and epidemic control, a global industrial chain and supply chain should resume and create a high <x0-currency” to facilitate people's travel.
In his speech at the G20 summit, Xi Jinping said again that China proposes an international health code recognition system based on testing nucleic acid and the rapid reaction code (QR), expressing hope that as many countries participate in it.
Xi also noted that effort is needed for more comprehensive development. In his speech, he said China supports the decision to extend the payment deadline and will work with all sides to implement that decision. In addition, he said the G20 should make further efforts in terms of anti-epidemic assistance to women, as well as in meeting the challenge of providing food.
COVID-19's epidemic is a major challenge and has shown the shortcomings of the global governance system. Xi stressed that in the post-epidemic period, the G20 should play a greater leading role in international order and global governance.
