A year after French President Emmanuel Macron declared that NATO was suffering from “brain death”, a group of experts today presented a host of reforms to help restore the Alliance of Defence.
The report presented by experts makes concrete suggestions such as closer co-ordination by holding more foreign ministers' meetings or by adding new types of meetings to the Alliance's calendar, the ATS reported.
It also includes a recommendation to make it difficult to block Alliance decisions by vetoing individual member states.
In addition, the panel of experts recommends accelerating the way the group of countries reacts politically to security threats or international crises.
The report contains about 140 concrete recommendations and will be discussed at a meeting of NATO foreign ministers beginning Tuesday.
