Sami Lushtaku, former commander of KLA and vice-chairman The PDK, has spoken after the charges filed and following Hashim Thaci's presentation, Jakup Krasniqi, Kadri Veselin and Rexhep Selimi, former KLA members, at The Hague Special Court.
Lushtaku has said that by the time the country was involved in war, the only thing that reminded KLA fighters of was death.
We thought only death at that time. We knew we were dead 100 percent. For us, the important thing is that Kosovo today is independent. It is painful that this court, and others in Kosovo, because we are considering Serbia has committed crimes and genocide in Kosovo and the bills we are paying in Kosovo. It is not Hashim Thaci or Kadri Veselini, or Jakup Krasniqi a Rexhep Selimi problem, the problem today is Kosova”.
Lushtaku also pointed out that the purpose of The KLA has never been the target of Serbian citizens, on the contrary.
The target has never been Serbian citizens. We didn't want to follow Milosevic's situation. We do not want the suffering of children and generations who have faced numerous cases in Kosovo to have the fate of Serbian children in Kosovo. We want the state of Kosovo to be functional. We want Serbian citizens in Kosovo to live like us and our children in Kosovo”.
Lushtaku has declared that Kosovo Albanians have been eager for justice.
Because we missed this. We did not expect that the KLA members would be punished without evidence or evidence. In this case, we have had several courts in Kosovo ... and we have a special court for war crimes in Kosovo. KLA members have been in courts and banks as accused of war crimes. I think 90 percent of them were innocent. I too have been sentenced to 12 years in prison, and after four years I have been declared innocent. I believe my colleagues in The Hague are innocent. They'll be back stronger than they were”, Lushtaku said of Abcnews.
