In the Berlin Foreign Ministry's proposal for Deutsche Welle on Thursday's political developments in Kosovo, where President Hashim Thaci resigned after confirming the indictment for war crimes, the readiness accused have been positively assessed that has shown to co-operate with justice authorities.
“We are aware of the president's resignation, Hashim Thaci, and his co-operation with justice authorities. We welcome the fact that the accused show willingness to cooperate with the executional organs. Bringing war crimes is necessary and part of Kosovo's support for the legal state”, the German Foreign Ministry emphasises.
Further in its pronouncement, the importance of establishing justice in a society is highlighted as an important factor in social peace. There is no long-term peace in a society without justice for past injustices. Germany is convinced that fighting impunity in many parts of the world through international courts is part of a responsible foreign policy. Germany thus supports the work of Kosovo's Specialised Chambers, both financially, personnel and political. Kosovo is an important partner with whom we co-operate closely and support it on its European path. ”
