Several thousand people gathered in downtown Berlin on Wednesday to protest Chancellor Merkel's plans to grant the government the powers to impose restrictive measures against the spread of the coronary.
It is expected that later in the day, the two chambers of the assembly will adopt laws with which the government is allowed to impose restrictive measures about social contacts, regulations about wearing masks, drinking alcohol in public places, closing shops and breaking sports events.
Although most Germans accept this version of easy isolation to fight the second wave of the coronary pandemic, critics say the law places too much competence on the government and jeopardises citizens' civil rights without the consent of the assembly
The far right party, Alternative for Germany ( The AfD has even compared the new law to an act in 1933 that had paved the way for Adolf Hitler's Nazi dictatorship, writes Reuters, broadcast Express.
