What can Germany expect from a Benden president?

The first proposals for the results of the US presidential vote in Germany were met with surprise. All preliminary polls suggested a clear priority for Joe Biden. The number of votes has not ended, and Beden's current priority could be deepened. But so far we have no deep and announced winners of these elections.

Apart from scepticism, which has been added to the work of demotic institutes, the resulting results of these presidential elections in Germany have clarified a fact: that Donald Trump's election president, four years ago, was not accidental. They seem to fear that they are losing control of their country: in the face of old and young immigrants; they feel that foreign states or powerful organisms are misleading Americans; that the problems they have stem from the fact that the US political and economic elite continues to enrich itself.

These concerns contain justified and true elements. But that's not the point. The fact is that until Trump, few people had made many white Americans - mainly ordinary people - believe that these troubles could be solved.

Donald Trump skillfully conveyed the sense of rescuer. This feeling has proved more important to them than any excesses of the President. And they rewarded Trump back in the ballot boxes, thanks to the justified management of Corona's pandemic.

German Stands for Election Results

In the United States, we have a new reality that we need to adjust to, the DW Secretary of State at the German Foreign Ministry, Niels Anne, told DW.

German government spokesman Stephen Seibert said the German government is carefully following developments after the vote. And that she trusts in US democratic institutions. But the German government does not comment on the developments.

More specifically, Germany's Defence Minister Annegret Kramp-Carrenbauer said on the morning after the elections. She said we have “a highly explosive situation in the US”. Kramp-Carrenbauer added that “is a situation that could lead to a constitutional crisis in the US”.

Benden as president would be welcomed to Germany

Joe Biden is a politician, unlike Donald Trump, who is a businessman. Biden has been vice president of the Barack Obamas administration. And he started his career since 1974, when the world had more rules.

It is expected that Joe Biden's style of communication and tone are different from that of President Trump. Few doubt that Biden will behave respectfully with the Allies.

But even Biden and his team draw attention that the world and the US have profoundly changed for the past four years.

As for Joe Biden, his position on China is similar to that of Trump.

Few Changes in American Security Attitude

As for NATO as a joint organisation, a better future awaits Beden. In an interview last Thursday, Beden said the first thing he would do after his election would be to phone the Alliance's leaders to say they can rely on the US again.

Weight of President Trump's second term

Not a few observers say four years of Trump administration were affordable, but another four years could cause sustainable changes in the future of the West. The West in the sense of a group of states sharing common values, values of freedom, a liberal world order.

A reduction of the West to an ethnic-nationalist concept has long been taking place in the world. In the EU, this concept still has little support. As for Donald Trump, he's not far from this image, the West he sees more as a common cultural identity.
