The flag - raising ceremony held in Vlora

Present were Republika President Ilir Meta, Prime Minister Edi Rama and head of the Parliament Gramoz Ruci. Political figures in question placed flower wreaths on the monument of independence.

As today, 108 years ago in Vlora, representatives of Albanian villas declared Albanian state independence. The Vlora National Assembly, its first meeting, held on November 28th 1912, with the act of declaring Albanian state independence from the Ottoman Empire. Albania's declaration of independence was the crowning of centuries-old efforts and ongoing wars by Albanians for the liberation of the country.

But unfortunately, the Government of Vlora had a short life, since for a little over a year, it was forced to retreat and land a government headed by a foreign prince appointed by the powers of time.
