U.S. Congressman Elliot Engel has issued a statement on the media saying he appreciates President Hashim Thaci's resignation, following the confirmation of the indictment by the Special, but says he is seriously concerned about how the court is acting out of command”.
“in Kosovo, President Hashim Thaci showed respect for the rule and law by issuing the office following charges by the Special Court prosecution. I will not specifically think about the charges I face, but Congress will closely monitor the work of this Court to ensure that the order and law and the rights of the accused are being implemented in this case and other cases””
Whatever, I express my sincere concerns about how the Psychic Court is acting outside the mandate. The statue through which the Special Court was established is not limited to accusing only Albanians. The law that has created the Court says its jurisdiction prevents war crimes that took place specifically during wartime. Unfortunately, it seems to be turning into an ethnic court by accusing only Albanians suspected of crimes”.
“Anyone suspected of war crimes must be tried, regardless of ethnicity. But, most of the crimes during this time in Kosovo have been committed by Milosevic's army and his campaign for ethnic cleansing”, said in Engel's statement.
In the end, Enel says that Serbian government officials who were involved in genocide are far from being captured by the Spanish Court”.
He says he will ask the State Department to monitor the Special Court.
