While the votes are still being counted in several states, three days after election day in the United States, it is possible that candidates will win the same number of votes of the Elexoral College, which defines the winner.

What will happen if both Republican President Donald Trump and Democrat candidate Joe Biden win 269 electoral votes?

The American president is not elected by popular vote.

According to the US Constitution, each candidate who wins most of the Elexoral College votes becomes American president.

Usually, all the electoral votes of a state go for the candidate who wins the popular vote in each of the 50 states.

These representatives of the Elexoral College are expected to gather on 14 December to vote on the basis of results in each state, which they represent.

About three weeks later, on 16 January, the two chambers of the new American legislature are expected to count votes and announce the winner.

Any complaint in Congress about the vote must be resolved before January 20th.

This is when, according to the US Constitution, the current mandate expires for President Donald Trump.

If any complaints continue to exist or if American lawmakers determine that no candidate has won the majority of 538 votes from the 269 Elexoral College with 269 .9 .C. will be determined by so-called delegation elections.

In these types of elections, the House of Representatives would elect the next president.

The Senate would choose the Vice President.

But in this process where the House of Representatives -- which is expected to be controlled by a majority of the Democratic Party -- would not include all 435 lawmakers.

Each state delegation has the right to a vote based on which party controls the most seats in that state.

Currently, the Republicans control 26 of the 50 state delegations, while the Democrats control only 22.

A Pensillavani, the state delegation, is equally divided between republics and Democrats.

Michigen has seven Democrats, six Republicans and a representative of the libertian ideological current.

Since the Democrats are expected to lose seats in the House of Representatives, based on the November 3rd election, the Republicans could control the votes needed to declare the winning Trump if the Elexorial College votes match.

But even the decision to such a vote of representatives could be followed with legal challenges.

Under US Federal Law, if Congress does not announce the winner by January 20th, the House of Representatives Leader assumes the position of the president's task leader.

Nancy Pelos, a Democrat, is currently the leader of this body and is expected to regain that position when the new legislature is formed on January 3rd.

By mid-November 7th, Beden has been in the lead over Trump in the race to win 270 electoral votes by 253 total, in contrast with Trump, which has 213.

Final results in six states of Alaska (3 electoral votes), Arizona (11), Georgia (16), Nevada (6), North Carolina (15) and Pennsylvania (20) are still necessary to determine the winner of the election.
