Federal Health Minister Greg Hunt announced that for the first time in the country, as of June 9th, no case has been recorded with COVID-19, according to the results of tests in the last 24 hours by states and regions of the country.
“Today we have zero cases of community infection throughout Australia. Thank you for our wonderful health service, our public health workers and, above all, the people of Australia”, posted Hunt on his Twitter account, praising the war on the virus in his country.
By the end of March, Australia had closed borders for foreign citizens, except those with permanent residence permits.
The country has so far registered 907 deaths as a result of the Coronobrus.
Since the appearance of the first case on January 25, a total of 27596 people have been infected in Australia so far, while 25,8 have recovered.
There are currently 198 active cases in the country, of which 17 are being handled in hospitals.
