The “Thirty modern T-72 tanks should be reached as part of the Vuciq-Putin agreement reached in Sochi. They will significantly strengthen our military capabilities”, Stefanovic told the media in Belgrade.
He also said that, in the future, special intelligence and intelligence equipment will work.
Media have reported that the first tanks from the Russian donation have arrived in Serbia on October 28th.
Donation is part of an agreement Serbia's president, Aleksandar Vuciq, reached with Russian Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu in 2016.
The deal was then approved by Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Donation includes six MiG-29 combat planes and 30 armoured detection vehicles BRDM-2.
In 2019, Serbia's Defence Ministry has rejected the Balkan Service request of Radio Free Europe to secure a copy of the donation agreement.
The Defence Ministry has said the world that the “agreement contains classified foreign data, so data entrusted to the Republic of Serbia by another state, with the obligation to keep secrets”.
