Mayorkas is the first immigrant nominated to serve in this capacity. He was born in Havana, Cuba and is an American Cuban with the highest post he served at Obama's presidency and Beden's.

Mayorkas, who turns 61 this Tuesday, during his service as prosecutor, helped sentence the so-called “Madam Hollywood”, Heidi Fleiss, accused of federal conspiracy, fiscal fraud and money laundering.

As chief of the office, Mayorkas also monitored the prosecution of members of the Mexican Mafia in the death penalty procedures, the prosecution of Bouford O.
