From the Assembly, the head of the SP Parliamentary Group, Taulant Balla spoke on the issue of establishing the Special Commission, which will investigate allegations of Dick Marty's report, under which war crimes and crimes against humanity were committed in Albania, within the KLA's war in Kosovo.
Balla called on all leaders of parliamentary groups in the country to gather to elect the nine MPs, who will represent this commission, which according to him will prove by official documents that have not been committed in Albania, adding that this commission will not be to investigate Democratic Party head Lulzim Basha.
“The establishment of the Special Commission is required to gather deputies from all groups here in the Assembly, giving them the weight and importance needed with a representation of people who know the process, to reach out to all the conclusions reached together. We all agree that war crimes never occurred in Albania. The struggle for freedom and independence is never a war crime. In this context, I would like to have with the leaders of the parliamentary groups a very constructive discussion to better select the 9 deputies of the Assembly, who will be part of this commission. We should never politicise this commission. Today we are at a moment where from the resolution and the report we have passed into a phase, where the indictment is filed against Kosovo fighters. Albania is today in an official document of a Special Room, under The Hague Tributal, to be verified. There has been an effort to identify this special commission with something else, with the involvement of Lulzim Basha, has nothing to do with the commission. I call on Basha to calm down, there is no commission to investigate, as it would be a waste of time. Luli has laid the seal of shame, it is up to the Democrats to stand up and ask him to clarify his role in the KLA war. The only thing I never think about is doing politics with a matter of national interest. Once we have approved the commission, we will have to clear through official documents any institution that no war crimes were committed in Albania or against humanity”, Balla said.
