Kosovo Prime Minister Avdullah Hoti has cancelled the decision he himself had signed on October 19, 2020, which envisioned that cable operators in Kosovo pay a minimum copyright fee and that would be shared for the authors of visuzele and acots, which are protected by the V association. APIC.
Prime Minister Hoti, a few days after making the government decision that would at least help actors and authors of visual audio works have met privately with the owners of cable operators who have forced him to change the 19 October decision with a new 30 October decision to postpone implementation of the preliminary decision.
This change in Hoti's decision after private meetings with cable operators that are at the expense of authors and actors has promoted the association. V The APIK has reacted sharply and has asked Hoti to return the legality, not to fall prey to deals with cable operators, at the expense of Kosovo creators and televisions.
Culture Minister Vlora Dumosh had described this as a historic decision to a better future for the authors of our country's creators.
“Today, the government Hoti has decided on adopting general tariffs for the exploitation of protected matter and copyright with the retransmitting case, through which fair compensation is established and adequate for authors, creators and investors of audio-visual works. With this decision, a functional copyright system allows rights holders for their actions, as well as meets the obligation to implement intellectual property rights issued from Article 77 and 78 of the SAA”, Dumosh said.
