After almost five months, Australia has not recorded a new case of COVID-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus.
The state of Victoria ʹthe second koronavirus wave center in Australia already recorded no new case for the second day. This country has been in solitary confinement for 112 days.
Health authorities said the restrictive measures, imposed to curb the spread of the coronary, would be eased in the coming days.
“Thank you to all wonderful health and public workers, but above all Australian people”, Health Minister Greg Hunt said in a Twitter post.
Australia has recorded 27,500 cases of coronary and 900 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic.
This country, which has 25 million people, has applied isolation measures and testing for coronarys in order to keep the virus under control. The state of Victoria ʹ where 90 percent of the deaths from COVID-19 have taken effect among the strictest measures of isolation in the world.
Melbourne, the largest city in Victoria, has started to get out of isolation earlier this week, following the improved epidemic situation.
