Joseph Biden is the elected president of the United States of America, and within weeks the transition of power to the White House, from Donald Trump to Joe Biden, is expected to occur.
But how much will this affect the approach of the United States of America to Kosovo on the one hand and Serbia on the other, but also to the dialogue process?
Policy experts see it as less than possible for US foreign policy to change significantly from one president to another, or from one party to another.
Political analyst and connoisseur Ramush Tahiri has indicated that elections in America are always important, but according to him, the US strategy for the Balkans remains unchanged.
But according to him, the tactic of doing things changes.
The elections in America are always important because the United States is super-power. For Kosovo, for the Balkans, American politics from the 17th year down here is a strategy designed to mean the powerful evolution of the US in the Balkans for stabilising things. As a strategy that's mutual. As a tactic changes.”, Tahiri told news.net.
According to Tahiri, Kosovo has had US support at any time and according to him, this support has been relevant to Kosovo.
Kosovo has had its support and has seen both Republicans and Democrats, I can't tell which of them is less because, dependingly, the situation has supported Kosovo and the goals of the people of Kosovo. You don't remember the story that the United States has left Kosovo wrong in whatever work it takes”, Tahiri told news.net.
In the end, Tahiri has indicated that Beden knows the Western Balkan region better personally, but according to him does not offer any major change.
Tahiri said it is important that despite the change of presidents, the US's stance has faced Kosovo's independence and citizenship remains unchanged.
Now, Joe Biden knows the Balkans better personally and not because of Trump because things are done by the administration. Most of those who were still responsible. Tactics differ, Trump had another approach. I expect no major change, or as spoken of in the opinion that Serbia will be attacked conditionally. The US is interested in maintaining their position towards Kosovo and facing Serbia, but the US stands in front of Kosovo remain unchanged”, Tahiri said.
And on the other hand, analyst Blerim Burjani says that Beden will be very constructive on Kosovo's territorial sovereignty and independence, as according to him, the Democrats support small nations.
“Biden is expected to be very constructive with Kosovo's independence and territorial sovereignty of the state. Biden and the Democrats have their principles in international politics, the support of smaller peoples numberically, and the preservation of the values of small nations, this has been witnessed by all American presidents who come from the Democrats.”, Burjan said.
In addition, Burjan said Serbia is not allowed either by Democrats or by Republicans to attempt to bring down the state of Kosovo and, according to him, Serbia has no choice other than recognising Kosovo as a state.
Serbia will not have support for the collapse of the state of Kosovo or fragmentation, nor will Democrats or Republicans allow that, differences in American politics are very small in access, but the substance remains the same. So Serbia has no other way, but sooner or later to accept Kosovo as a state in a modalisation.”, he said further.
All in the end, Burjani said Kosovo will not be territorially divided and there will be no fractures, but according to him, the approach of Beden will come with Kosovo's interests and sovereignty.
Serbia must become clear that Kosovo is not territorially divided and is not the medieval time for fragmentation. Serbia is a state of nationalism and religious influence in domestic and foreign politics. So, Biden will be correct with the sovereignty and interests of Kosovo”, he said.
On the other hand, it is still not known whether Biden will engage Special Envoy for Kosovo Dialogue Serbia as US President Donald Trump had done with Richard Green.
