Residents of the US federal state Michigan are barely buying weapons before tomorrow's presidential elections in the United States, writes Sky News.
They don't even know the process, said Bill Kwick, owner of an arms store. “They just want to buy weapons and I have about a hundred calls a day,” he added, pointing to an empty window that used to have about “a hundred rifle”.
The citizens of Michigan, a key “hesive state for which it is not known for which candidate they will vote, are armed with fear of civil unrest in the event of a controversial election outcome.
In recent weeks, Michigan has also proved to be a hearth of internal militants' activity. The clearest example is the discovery of an FBI plot to kidnap Greek Democrat Governor Gretchen Whitmer because of its closing measures in the fight against Coronavirus.
Just days ago, FBI police arrested the self-declared leader of the white Supremeist group, on charges of multiple crimes and running a <x0) hate campaign” in Michigan.
Antiterrorism expert Yaved Ali believes that the main factors that have led to this apparent increase in domestic terrorist threats are the impact of pandemic and resulting restrictions, protests sparked by the killing of African George Floyd and hard-pressed political rhetoric.
