At least 74 migrants lost their lives from shipwreck on Libya's coast, while another 47 were rescued from coast guards and fishermen, the United Nations migration agency said.
The ship with migrants, including women and children, sank on the coast of the Libyan port of al-Khums, the International Organisation for Migration said.
Libya is a major transit point for mostly African migrants trying to cross the Mediterranean and reach Europe.
According to the International Organisation for Migration, at least 900 people have drowned this year, trying to cross the Mediterranean.
Another 11,000 have been caught in the sea and have returned to Libya.
Migrants in Libya are often detained, exploited, or abused.
The International Organisation for Migration and the United Nations Refugees Agency has said that Libya should not be considered a safe return port, and that rescue or forbidden migrants should not return to the sea.
