Today, 52 years have come from Albanian demonstrations in 1968 in Kosovo, which preceded important national anniversarys.

The demonstrations erupted on November 27, 1968, in Pristina, Besiana, Ferizaj and Gjilan.

The initiative undertook and sparked a nine-member political group of Pristina students, with Osman Dumi at the helm. This group was called the demonstration Committee, consisting of Osman Doshori, Adil Pireva, Selatin Novosella, Ilaz Pireva, Geelad Recaliu, Africa Loja, Skender Mucholli, Skender Kastrati, and Hasan Dermak.

The 1968 demonstrations were inspired to continue efforts for Kosovo's freedom and independence, both in the 1980s, and to eventually organise the armed struggle for Kosovo's freedom and independence. In the demonstrations of the year normally, all walks of life, of population ages and residents of all Albanian lands, where they unanimously expressed that Albanians in Yugoslavia want all the rights enjoyed by other peoples.

Albanians wanted to enjoy the right to use national symbols, national rights, rather than nationality, the right to self-rule, and the right to their state, the Republic of Kosovo, under the Federation of Yugoslavia.

The demonstrations broke out again in Pristina in 1981. They started by students protesting peacefully about their living conditions, but their demands escalated to a greater political level. As a result, the sweeps took place within the communist leadership in Kosovo.
