The decision on whether to legalise euthanasia appeared as a referendum question in the October 17th general elections, along with another question of a referendum that was to legalise Canabisia ? which did not pass according to preliminary results.
The results of the euthanasia referendum are mandatory to apply and will take effect 12 months after final results on November 6, 2021. The assisted death will be administered by the Health Ministry, translated Periscope from The Guardian.
The preliminary results announced on Friday that 65.2 percent of voters had voted “Po” in the question of euthanasia legalisation, and only 33.8 percent had voted “No.”
With regard to cannabis legalization, the result was much closer: 46.1 percent “YES” and 53.1 percent “ /Periscope
