Researchers from the Kosovo Institute for Laws (IKD), Yll Zeqaj, have said that the Special Court has made a selective publication of the indictment filed with President Hashim Thaci and Democratic Party of Kosovo Chairman Kadri Veselini.
Yll Zekiaj has said that special work is generally characterised as nontransparent.
“generally the work of the Special Court is a work that has been characterised with transparency and this is not allowed in the Law of Specialised Chambers”.
So we have the questioning of witnesses and other suspects, but it doesn't become public”.
“We had publicising the indictment against Thaci and Wessel that was outside the rules with a reasoning more similar to a political rather than legal rationale on the part of the prosecutor”, he said on one of the local televisions.
There were several dozen other suspects charged with 100 murders.
It has now been six months and this indictment had to be made public, which is estimated that a decision must be made within this deadline”.
There is a dilemma here now whether an indictment is completely confirmed, in part or rejected. All these versions can exist; therefore, we should not speculate because the Law on Specialised Chambers does not specify a strict deadline for confirming the indictment”.
