The head of the Democratic Party of Kosovo, Kadri Wessel, on the occasion of World Teacher's Day, has visited the Aliu-Hertica family school house in Pristina's Kodra district, where he said they are forever grateful to educators who resisted by keeping the patriotic spirit and the desire for freedom of our youth alive while working in extremely difficult conditions.
Wessel has written that Kosovo needs much motivation at that time to increase the quality of education in the service of strengthening our state.
“With the case of World Teacher's Day, and encouraged by my wife, Violet, who has been constantly speaking to me for a turbulent time in the 1990s, when she attended the lesson at the Aliu-Hertica family school house in Pristina Hill of Trima, I visited this monument today of Albanian education. It's about an era when Albanian schools were the first target of fierce Serb depression towards our people. We are forever grateful to the educators who resisted by keeping alive the patriotic spirit and the desire for freedom of our youth while working under very difficult conditions. Also, great thanks are to generous families like this of Mehmet Aliu Hertica, who opened hearts and doors to houses. For almost eight years, this three-story schoolhouse has served as the cradle of knowledge for over 1600 high school students “Sami Frasher” Like this honorable family, thousands of other families were offered throughout Kosovo with great will to prevent the closure and interruption of Albanian learning. Today, Kosovo needs much motivation at that time to increase the quality of education in the service of strengthening our state”, it has written on Facebook.
