Germany's reunification 30 years ago, a year after the fall of the Berlin Wall, constitutes one of the greatest historical events of the century that passed, of remarkable importance not only to Germany but to Europe and beyond.

That day not only symbolizes the reintegration of the German nation but also the defeat of communism, the ending of the Iron “” that split Europe for half a century, as well as the triumph of freedom and democracy against tyranny.

In this jubilee, I express the best wishes for this friendly country, which has been found near us in the most difficult times and continues to help us with our challenges and, for the most part, has become a second country for hundreds of thousands of our countrymen.
