Northern Macedonia Prime Minister Zoran Zaev has said the proposal for this regional initiative will be discussed Tuesday at the government meeting and that the decision will likely be positive.
The “is meant for regional initiative, not North Macedonia, since we have a small regional, while the figures are almost identical. We'll probably make a decision in government, we have a qualitative debate, it'll help economically, but we have to be careful... We don't want to be isolated from the region. If the region is open we should, we're the small country, connected to the region. We make positive decisions when such proposals are made by experts from the Infectious Commission”, Zaev has declared.
Similar decisions for the opening of borders are expected to approve even the governments of the countries of the region so that citizens can move without introducing the negative coronary test for the border authorities.
The Ministry of Health of Northern Macedonia has announced that the Commission's proposal is taken based on epidemiological analyses, under which there are currently no indicators, or high number of cases with COVID-19 (the disease causing Coronavirus) that have been brought in from these countries.
“Based on current data, there is no danger of opening borders. In the European Union, the citizens' movement is conducted for the PCR” test, the Ministry of Health announced.
Northern Macedonia citizens can currently move without the PCR test only in the Republic of Albania.
The recent removal of borders has also been required by the Economic Odays of northwest Macedonia and the Economic Oda of Kosovo.
